We are called to be free.

“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.” (Galatians 5:13) NIV

How amazing is that? WE are called to be free! Why be chained to sin, worry, anxiety, and fear when a loving father created us to love one another? Let’s be honest. When you are having negative thoughts it is hard to show love and compassion. But when we are walking by the spirit “you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.” (Galatians 5:16) NIV

What does it mean by flesh?

Looking at the original word in the greek language, it is referring to our sinful state as human beings (which is opposite of the spirit). In Galatians it states some acts of the flesh such as sexual immorality, fits of range, drunkenness, etc.

I find myself battling a spiritual battle everyday. I have caught myself having some fits of range because of stress or even frustration. But I know now that this is contrary to the spirit…and this is where we put what we learned into practice. Through recognition of this struggle I have and prayer, I will seek God to help me walk by the spirit…to find peace whenever I find myself in frustration and use that energy instead to love others. We are only human but Truth in Jesus Christ can set us free!

I CHALLENGE YOU today to walk by the spirit. Serve others. Love one another.

In Jesus name, Amen.

God is Love. God is Light.

“Whoever says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands us is a liar, and the truth is not in that person. But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them.” 1 John 2:5 (NIV)

I have to be honest. I used to live this way- “I know him”. Yet I didn’t truly love him because I was not obeying his commands. I did not know any better because I didn’t know that verse even existed! That is why it is important to take time out of our day to read His word.

So what exactly does he command of us?

“And this is his command: to believe in the name of his son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.” 1 John 3:23 (NIV)

Believe in Jesus Christ because he is love and the light of this world.

It’s a constant battle I fight everyday, to get out of the dark and into the light with Jesus. But with prayer and faith, Jesus will help you fight that battle.

“This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.” 1 John 1:5 (NIV)

God is love because he forgives us from sin. He cleanses us every single day if we repent, and that is true love. When he died on the cross for you and I- that was God’s love for us through his son Jesus. This is why we can be forgiven because of Jesus. He wants you to be brought into the light and out from the darkness.

“Heavenly Father, let us come together in prayer with those reading this. May they be filled with the Holy Spirit, and feel your love and forgiveness. You are the only way Jesus, and we pray that you guide us away from darkness, and draw closer to you each day. In Jesus name, Amen”

Why this blog?

The purpose of this blog is to inspire others to seek God above all else and spread his Word. This generation needs a savior and that is Jesus Christ. My friends, we need to make time for God so we can be welcomed in the kingdom of Heaven. For our time here on earth is only temporary and our eternal life is with Him.

I started a brand new spiritual journey with God in the beginning of this year. I say “brand new” because years ago I was taught about Jesus and grew up in a Catholic home. Yet, I had no idea how powerful, loving, and real God was. To be honest, I had no clue who He really was or how I was really connected to Him. These past few months, I truly have seen God work in my heart. I feel like a brand new person since I started to read His Word and seek Him everyday. Finding Truth in God has blessed my life and I want others to see how this is coming about because my journey still continues on…

My past was full of sin. I was lost for a very long time. People would not believe the things I have done in my life before I turned to Christ, but God has shown me mercy. He has opened my eyes to Truth. When you fully commit to following Jesus and accepting Him as your savior he can change your life for the better (And there is no turning back to your old ways). I will share more on future blogs about my past experiences in hopes that you see why I decided to turn my life around and that you too can do the same no matter what it is that is holding you back from God.

Let this be my testimony. That nothing is impossible with Him at our side. Together let us truly discover who OUR God really is and find purpose for living while still searching Him everyday.

“Lord, I ask you to bless this blog and help the readers of this blog to open up their hearts to you as they read your Word throughout my work. You are in control God, and I know that someone out here needs to hear you. I want to serve you God with purpose. May my spiritual journal inspire others to seek you more everyday. In Jesus name, Amen.”
