God is Love. God is Light.

“Whoever says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands us is a liar, and the truth is not in that person. But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them.” 1 John 2:5 (NIV)

I have to be honest. I used to live this way- “I know him”. Yet I didn’t truly love him because I was not obeying his commands. I did not know any better because I didn’t know that verse even existed! That is why it is important to take time out of our day to read His word.

So what exactly does he command of us?

“And this is his command: to believe in the name of his son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.” 1 John 3:23 (NIV)

Believe in Jesus Christ because he is love and the light of this world.

It’s a constant battle I fight everyday, to get out of the dark and into the light with Jesus. But with prayer and faith, Jesus will help you fight that battle.

“This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.” 1 John 1:5 (NIV)

God is love because he forgives us from sin. He cleanses us every single day if we repent, and that is true love. When he died on the cross for you and I- that was God’s love for us through his son Jesus. This is why we can be forgiven because of Jesus. He wants you to be brought into the light and out from the darkness.

“Heavenly Father, let us come together in prayer with those reading this. May they be filled with the Holy Spirit, and feel your love and forgiveness. You are the only way Jesus, and we pray that you guide us away from darkness, and draw closer to you each day. In Jesus name, Amen”
